Hoa Binh Province Social Assistance
Center
Hoa
Binh is a mountainous province in Northern Vietnam with an
estimated population of 77,004 persons, comprising eight
different ethnic minorities of whom the Muong group accounts for
70%. Over recent years, the peoples’ living conditions have
improved considerably, reaching GDP average income of VND
3,000,000 per capita, or USD 200/year. The peoples’ lives have
been improved, public works have been upgraded and constructed,
and social policies have been applied, in particular assistance
programs for handicapped persons, orphans, and the elderly.
Currently they receive a governmental nurturing allowance, but
only VND 50,000/month per capita, or 3 USD/person/month.
Through
Gift of Love’s donations, a person collectively nurtured at Hoa Binh
Social Assistance Center enjoys an allowance of VND 150,000 per month,
or 10 USD/month, covering meals, clothes, education and medicine. This
will enable everyone to participate in sports and entertainment
activities, improve their spiritual life. The elderly will feel more
relaxed and joyful, and the children will obtain better results in their
education.
Teaching
children, providing a nurturing environment and increasing the
production of planting of green vegetables, pig husbandry are goals the
Social Assistance Center hopes to meet in order to improve daily meals
and children’s education conditions. Gift of Love International
Adoptions, Inc. has been supporting the Hoa Binh Social Assistance
Center since 2001. Our funding helps the Center to further the care and
fostering of abandoned and orphaned children as well as seniors living
in the facility who do not have extended family to care for them.
