Gift of Love International Adoptions, Inc. has been working in Ukraine since 2000.  Families will receive a referral of a child from the The State Department for Adoption and Protection of the Rights of the Child (SDAPRC)  in Kiev.

Children Available

Children available for adoption range in age from 18-months to school-age at the time of adoption.  The adoption law of Ukraine allows the adoption of two children at one time only if they are biologically related, meaning twins or siblings. Occasionally some younger children, between the ages of 14- and 18-months may be available.

Parental Eligibility Requirements

  • Married couples having reached a minimum of a 3 year anniversary.

  • There is no upper age limit for families, however it is generally accepted that parents are under the age of 45 at the time of placement.

  • Prospective Adoptive Parents must have a minimum annual income of $30,000.

  • There is no limit to the number of children currently in the home.

  • Prospective adoptive parents must be in generally good health.

Travel

An invitation to travel is provided after your completed dossier is registered in the SDAPRC, by the order of your registration number.  After arriving in Ukraine you will go to the SDAPRC for your appointment.  Once you receive the referral of your child from the Director of the SDAPRC, you will travel to the child’s region to visit the child.  Selection paperwork could begin at that time, if the referral of the child is accepted. After court, a mandatory 10- to 30-day waiting period may be instituted by the judge.  Once the waiting period is complete, your interview with the US Embassy in Kiev will be scheduled, at which time you will obtain your child’s U.S. visa to complete the adoption process and return home.  Our travel associate in Ukraine escorts families while in country to complete the registration and the court procedures to finalize the adoption in the city your child is located.  The travel associate will also assist families in legalization of your documents and obtaining your child’s US Visa at the embassy in Kiev.

Post-Adoption

  • Mandatory post-adoption reports by a caseworker at 30-days, 6-months and 12 months home

  • Mandatory family reports annually at year 2 and 3 years home

  • Mandatory family reports every 3 years from year 4 to the child's 18th birthday.
