Gift of
love offers a comprehensive Social Work program for all of our
clients. While working through your adoption journey, you
will be working directly with Gift of Love's Director of Social
Work and your caseworker to complete the required steps for your
home study process and adoption education.
Every
international adoption program requires a home study to be
finished and submitted to the foreign country, and US/CIS for
approval. If you
live in Iowa, a home study will be conducted by a Gift of Love
Caseworker. If you do not live in Iowa, we will assist you
in finding a home study agency of your choice. For an
Iowa home study a minimum of three visits must be completed with
at least one in the home.
The home
study process contains meetings in the home and/or mutually
agreed upon location. The Home Study contains information about your family
regarding subjects such as: Background information on the
adoptive mother and father, Marriage and children
information, child rearing practices, health, financial, and
religious information, home, neighborhood and community
information. Once the home study is completed it will be
submitted to your state US/CIS office to continue with the adoption
process.
Throughout your wait, between your home study and referral, your
caseworker will be there for support and education. Gift
of Love also offers education to families regarding adoption related issues.
