Kazakhstan Adoption

Gift of Love International Adoptions, Inc. has been working in Kazakhstan since 2003 and has been directly registered at the Kazakhstan Consulate in New York, NY since April 2004.

Children Available

Children available for adoption range in age from 6 months to school age at the time of referral.  The adoption law of Kazakhstan allows the adoption of two children at one time only if they are biologically related, meaning twins or siblings.  The majority of children available are of Kazakh decent and have Eurasian features.  Prospective adoptive parents must be open to receiving the referral of a child of any ethnic background from Kazakhstan.  Placement of a child of a specific ethnic background is not guaranteed.

Parental Eligibility Requirements

  • Married couples and single heterosexual females.

  • Prospective adoptive parents must be a minimum age of 25 years old; there is currently no upper age limit, however, Kazakhstan requires that Prospective Adoptive Parents are no more than 45 years older than your child.

  • Prospective adoptive parents must be in generally good health.

  • Prospective adoptive parents must have a minimum, combined annual income of $40,000.

  • Prospective adoptive parents must have a completely clear criminal record from a local state and federal criminal report.

Travel

You will receive an invitation to travel after your completed dossier is sent through and approved by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) and Ministry of Education (MOE).  The day after arriving in Kazakhstan you will go to the regional MOE for your appointment.  Before accepting the referral of your child, Kazakhstan requires that you visit your child everyday for 15 days as a bonding period.  After court there will be an appeal period of 15 days plus 7 days for document processing.  You will have the option to travel home for this 21 day period, after which you will travel to Almaty to spend 1-3 days to obtain your child’s visa and attend your embassy exit interview.

Post-Adoption

  • Mandatory post-adoption reports with a caseworker at 30-days, 6-months, 12-months, 18-months and 24-months home.

  • Mandatory family reports are required for years 3 through the child’s 18th birthday.
